The
soil has been prepared by steralization and then wrapped in plastic.
Both black or white plastic will be used. During cooler times Black
plastic will be used so the sun will be attracted.
Below
the soil are plastic pipes that water passes through. This is known
as drip irrigation. This assures that the soil will be properly moist.
If "Mother Nature" does not supply the moisture the farm can.
This
pump sends the water underground to the plants. The fertilizer will
also be added to the water in exact amounts.
The
"Seedling" is feed into a machine by hand. The machine plants the "Seedling"
After
the "Seedling" is planted it is immediately watered. This is very important
because the plant is now under the most stress.
Wooden stakes are placed into the soil. These stakes will have several
rows of string that will connect them. This will create a stable enviorment
for the plant so they will not fall over on to the ground.

Sugar cane is planted at specefic intervals in the field.
These very tall crops assist in protecting the delicate Tomato plants
from damage that could be caused from the wind.

As the plants get larger they they are supported by string
that runs between the stakes . As they get taller they are strung a
second and third time.

Here are some 6 foot plants ready for picking!
